this is the first time that i have sat alone in my dorm room, wondering whether or not my roommate will show up, since my senior year of highschool. and i am completely content.
everything about the cold white cinderblocks feels natural, familiar. this is somewhere i have been. this is somewhere that i am comfortable being. this is where i grew up. there is a consistent hum of a minuature refridgerator and the drawer is already packed with the disorganization of tiny pieces of paper that i will never need. there is absolutely nowhere to put my trash. the keys fit hesitantly into the grooves, you can hear it compromise. the door is heavy and will slam shut if i let it. there are people laughing until 2am. i don't think that i could have slept without them.
my friends are missing, and i can't smell the thick soapiness of the laundry room. no one will ever knock on my window to tell me that i should come out and play, but i am finally okay with that. Home is always some place that you can never go again. this will serve as a nice substitution.
i'm going outside.

in other news:
01. i think my harddrive is eating itself. the sound somewhat resembles a VHS tape rewinding. if anyone has any experience with how much laptops suck, clue me in. cause i got nothing.
02. my cell phone (gasps, sellout!) arrives today. so give me your numbers cause i dont feel like looking for them. mostly i'm talking to amy seeds. cause i somehow still dont have this.
03. today is crazy. i have to do so much shit. some of it's cool.
04. sunday night is against me! show, so if you live in pensacola, come to the fucking gutter lounge.

ask me about how i hugged ben folds. first. seriously. i dare you. mostly ask about how i was astonished when he said, "sure", cause i didn't think he was talking to me. what a sweet fucking guy, really. he pushes his glasses up while playing piano, what the fuck. i wish i'd gotten to the "you changed my life part" but someone beat me to it.
i've seen a lot of people, and their current or future living spaces, in the past few days. saw kemp's house and met his family and subsequently had a total paradigm shift. i drug sasha to a (1/7th gay) frat house at oglethorpe so that we could hang out with lombardy, who immediately took me outside for secret-john-time and with whom i re-itterated a bunch of really old inside jokes, cause i miss him. i wonder how he's dealing with savannah withdrawals. then visited paul and caleb's (kindof)new apartment, but they went to bed so we went to mike's house and watched the life of david gale.
somehow, sasha and i left birmingham at 8 today and made it to mobile at like 10:15. so i decided to try to stop by kate's apartment and tell them all goodnight. instead we drove by the school and i saw flannagan hanging out with the security guard outside. he's totally blonde. talked to him about his california trip and where everyone's been. apparently he did stand up for the past two months in LA, which is really adorable. what a good guy. it was nice to randomly sneak up on him, albeit kind of creepy. he called sasha 'potato chip' for no readily apparent reason.
drove across the street after that to the katehaus, but they were already asleep so we walked in and used the bathroom and looked in the fridge and told nylen goodnight and left. then back to pensacola. now i have to work tomorrow at 11am. night.

working 11 to close then picking up sasha for the drive to jonathan's house. tomorrow is mike faulk and chris kemp and BEN FOLDS and the celebration of two-name-names! then back home sunday.
fare well the difference engine, i will see you guys when you return, please be careful and safe and don't crash and try not to come back as zombies. i'd still like to have my friends. i love you. the end.

so i was going to go out on a limb and try to write something good. it was going to be long and witty and exciting, something that you'd want to read; reaffirmation that i can be a good writer, cause lately i've done jack shit by the way of words. i wanted to convince you that things can get better if only you breathe a little more slowly, or take a sip of some peach tea in crushed ice.
but somewhere around the second paragraph, i got called into work early because "thousands of wheel of fortune busses" are presently slamming the ass of pensacola's finest subway establishment. so instead, i'll tell you that life is hard and shitty gameshows should learn to quit when they're through.
there are a lot of things that will only dare to hit you once. acknowledge the blow.
